Hank Aaron belts home run #715 breaking Babe Ruth’s all time record on April 8th, 1974.
Henry Louis Aaron also known as "Hammerin’ Hank" broke into the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Braves in 1954. Throughout his career Aaron amassed 3,771 hits, 2,297 runs batted in, 755 home runs, and appeared in a record 25 All-Star games. Never in anybodies wildest dreams would the all time home run record that was held by George Herman “Babe” Ruth ever be broken, none the less by an African American ball player from rural Alabama.
Hank Aaron’s home run record would eventually fall on August 7th, 2007 to Barry Bonds, but due to the eventual “steroid era” scandal, Aaron is still seen as the home run king throughout Major League Baseball.
